Warfare Rules
While war is meant to be a chaotic time for a village, it is necessary to establish rules for warfare that will be followed at all times on the forums. These rules prevent one village from going on a power trip while members of other villages are away or inactive for short periods of time.
- Invasion of a Village: This is the typical means of waging war within the role-play. However, an enemy village may not just invade a village at any time. A certain number of criteria must be met by a potential target before the village is susceptible to outside invasion. For a village to be invaded: the village must have an active Kage as well as three other residents, regardless of rank. Once war has been declared, the aggressors must post a topic within the village and this topic will remain open for 3 days in order to give time for the defenders to reply. Anyone that is going to participate in the coming conflict MUST post within that topic before the 3 day deadline, then the war will move on to the actual invasion. The actual invasion need not take place in the same topic, with separate topics being allowed to simulate multiple battles going on at the same time. These fighting topics will be open for one week (7 days) or until one side has been defeated. If no side has been completely defeated, staff not related to conflict will tally up the topics and the side with the most wins out of all the threads will be declared the winner. The winner has complete control over what happens to the defeat village, and these decisions will be made in character.
War cannot be declared without a reason. A casus belli (act or event that provokes war) is necessary. This could be violent border skirmishes or a kidnapping of a village's shinobi. The reason can range from anything but the reason must be logical and it must be worth going to war over. - Fighting on the Battlefield: Not all fights between countries and villages are fought in villages. Many times, two opposing armies will march out and meet each other on the battlefield, wherever that may be. These fights occur when one side decides to attack a certain area or defend a certain area and the opposition decides to defend or attack respectively. In these topics, the defenders always go first as it is the defend that decides where to set up their camp in order to hold the ground - so they get to decide the terrain. Before each of these fights, the leader of the defenders must make a detailed post detailing the weather and terrain, like noticeable features. Are you fighting near a lake or is the area covered in mud from torrential down pours? This post will be reviewed by the staff, who will decide if the post is both realistic and reasonable (For instance, it doesn't rain much around the Hidden Oasis). A defender is not allowed to make statements such as "We are on an island surrounded by lava", etc. Once the staff OKs the post, the aggressors may then post moving into the area and then the combat will begin to take place. These fights may be broken up into separate topics in order to make sense of it all and keep one topic from becoming a convoluted mess, but all topics must be mindful of the terrain the defenders have chosen. These topics will remain open for 5 days or until one side has been defeated. If one side is not defeated by the end of the 5 days, the wins and losses will be tallied up and a winner will be chosen.
