HISTORY:
Tsumetai Hi, or “Cold Fire”, is a D-Rank jutsu in which the user is able to mold their chakra into wild “flames” of pure light which would never melt ice nor burn the object that it is placed upon. Following its discovery by Hikarihashi Kuma, word of the technique spread throughout the tribes of the Land of Frost, but despite its relative ease of execution as described by Kuma, it was found that only he who could perform it with any success. As the only known user of this technique, Kuma was often hired by neighboring camps to light flames around their homes to ensure visibility without having the risk of the icy ground melting and collapsing. Kuma’s skill was highly valuable and resulted in his accumulation of material wealth through trade. One day, the leader of a nearby tribe offered the hand of his daughter in exchange for permanent lighting for his entire tribe. Kuma’s agreeance with this deal anointed him as the next ruler of the tribe and marked the beginning of the Hikarihashi Clan.
DEFINING TRAITS:
The Hikarihashis understand that their ancestors and the generations which precede them did not necessarily survive out of strength, but rather out of commerce and diplomacy. Consequently, very few enlist in the military or become city guards and instead favor a life of mercantilism or political leadership in the Kaigi. Hikarashis are strong speakers and negotiators who, more often than not, get their way.
The clan as a whole has made its fair amount of enemies with those who only value strength. These people have the conception that Hikarihashis are cowards and are unable to fight, but this is far from the truth. Despite these beliefs, the Hikarihashi Clan is very capable of defending itself. Its connections throughout the marketplace allows access to a plethora of arms and the unique ability of the Hikarihashis enables them to perform many abstract Jutsu in battle.
ABILITIES:
Over the course of generations, it was found that those in the Hikarihashi Clan all possess the ability to create Tsumetai Hi. This ability is a result of the Hikarihashi’s chakra being able to interact with light in manners that are generally thought to be impossible - a Kekkei Genkai. Unlike the chakra of an ordinary person, this clan’s chakra is able to reflect, absorb, and manifest in the form of light which allows them to manipulate light in unprecedented ways such as warping the sight of people around them or crafting “light bombs” to blind anybody unfortunate enough to be in its proximity.
