VILLAGE: Tōrōgakure no Sato (灯篭れの里, Village Hidden in the Lanterns)
HISTORY:
Many years ago, before Torogakure no Sato came to be, and even before the era in which Uzumaki Naruto resided in, there was believed to be a time know as the Shang Dynasty. This was an era in which humans did not yet understand the abilities that they possessed, and merely fought using brute force. However, in this era there were creatures that harbored a mystical power known as as gods, celestial beings, and demons that were scattered across the land. Among them was the Jade Emperor's daughter Nüwa, or as she was regularly called the "Snake Goddess", who was highly respected and loved by many for the wisdom, kindness, and love she demonstrated to the humans through out the previous dynasties, although no one could have anticipated that their beloved goddess could ever recklessly do anything to harm any one who was innocent, until King Zhou of Shang decided to visit Nüwa's temple.
Once King Zhou would set his eyes on the beautiful goddess he would become over powered with lust, and make a poor choice to express his lewd feelings in a poem on the temples walls and then leave hoping to receive a favorable response. Nüwa, however, was not pleased once she saw what the king had wrote on her wall and planned to get her revenge on him by summoning three of her subordinates — the Thousand-Year Vixen, the Jade Pipa, and the Nine-Headed Pheasant. She ordered them to get close to the King, and bewitch him in order to bring him to his demise, however, they were not to harm any one else, if they did as they were told the Snake Goddess would allow them to be reincarnated into a human. Reluctantly, the three agreed and left to do their task.
Out of the three, the Thousand-Year Vixen was the one who wished to be human the most, however, not in the way that the goddess envisioned for the three. The Vixen wanted to keep her power she gained as a celestial being, so that she may use her power to rule. So, when the opportunity presented itself, the Vixen gladly accepted. To achieve her goal, the vixen would soon claim the name of Daji, after possessing the woman whose father gave her up to the King, by sealing her soul far within the body, and using her own power to quickly steal his attention, rising up from minor concubine to queen in a matter or weeks, and persuading the King to rule over his territory as a tyrant, causing chaos over the lands, as well as causing King Wu of Zhou to begin a revolt against Shang.
Daji, seeing no more use for Shang had decided to flee, before the Snake Goddess could turn her into a mortal, so that she may go cause chaos else where. But, when the vixen thought she was about to get away, she was soon stopped by Jiang Ziya, who was able to exercise the demon that possessed Daji's body, freeing the poor woman from the vixen's grasp. However, before Jiang could fully seal away the demon, the Vixen was able to use what little strength it had to seal itself within the woman's body, causing the woman's soul to be free, but unfortunately harbor the demon inside of her. This left Jiang with the unfortunate task of informing the woman that any child she would have would be the beginning of hosts to house the spirit of the Vixen until it sees an opportunity to awaken and use its powers again to rule.
Fearing the suffering that the Vixen would bring to any possible children she would conceive, and the people of her land, the woman made a brave decision to isolate herself from humanity. Bravely the woman banished herself to the uncultivated land to the far south, with nothing but the clothes on her back and an enchanted necklace of clear purified Mala beads, given to her by Jiang as a gift to keep the Vixen's unruly spirit at bay. Once, in the Southern land, the woman taught herself to survive, and for years lived alone, silently watched over by the Snake Goddess, who could not help but be moved by the compassion the woman had for her fellow man, even though it was truely not her fault.
One night as the now elderly woman slept silently in the cave she made into her home, Nüwa took the remaining clay she had from when she first sculpted the ancestors of this land and formed it into a female toddler. However, the goddess did not breath life into the child as she did to her other creations, instead she gladly sealed away half of her spiritual energy into the clay figure. In doing so, she would be blessing the child with the ability to have control over the elements as she did, and perhaps use this gift to bring about goodness in the world. Nüwa looked upon this child as not only a gift to the woman, but also her way making up for the great sin she committed herself.
The next day the elderly woman awoke to find a Vermilion Bird staring at her as she arose from her slumber, more surprising then the sight of the spiritual bird was the fact that when it moved it's wing, it revealed the clay toddler it cradled carefully with its tail feathers. It seemed that Nüwa wasn't the only celestial being that was moved by the woman's compassion, and the Vermilion bird went to the goddess, agreeing to help her with the gift she prepared for the woman. Confused as to what this meant, the woman could only watch as the sacred bird began to glow, it's body dissipating into small particles filled the cave for a second like the stars filled the night sky. For a second the particles lingered, until simultaneously they flew down towards the sculpture causing a flash of bright light.
Having shielded her weak eyes from the light, the woman soon lowered her guard as she began to hear small soft cries coming from her cave floor, to only see a beautiful baby girl laying there. Not questioning what she had just witnessed or why, the woman quickly to the child in her arms, and took her in as her own, giving her the name Tamayori.
Tamayori had grown to learn the compassion and lessons her adoptive mother taught her, while also honing her own abilities that both the Vermilion bird and the goddess left her. And after her mother passed, Tamayori set out on her own with her mother's last wish echoing in her head. 'Tamayori, sometimes yin and yang struggle to surpass the other. When I was younger, I was weak and allowed evil to over power the good. Please, never let that happen again. Use your abilities to make the world a brighter place my child, and bring honor to our tarnished name.' With this in mind, the girl set out to do that, teaching others of lessons her mother taught her, using her abilities to heal and protect the sick and weak, and becoming the founding member of the Shang Clan's great legacy, later becoming known as the royal clan of the South. And so began the tradition of the female member who possessed the rare Kekkai Genkai of their blood line would become the Head of the Clan, gaining the title as Tamayori Princess.1

[1] The Legend is based off of The Ming dynasty novel "Fengshen Bang", I hope it is okay that I put my own little twist to it and applied it to my back story.
DEFINING TRAITS:
Technique Name: [朱红鸟的眼睛] Zhūhóng niǎo de yǎnjīng - Eyes of the Vermilion Bird Technique Type: Kekkai Genkai – Sensory Technique Rank: D-Rank Technique Action Cost: 10 actions Technique Effect: Being born with the Shang Clan's rare blood line trait, means being marked from the time you open your eyes as a unique person. For the females born with the rare Kekkai Genkai are born with an abnormal pair of crimson red eyes. However, the rare color of their eyes is not the strangest part of their eyes. It is their mysterious pupils. For unlike most humans, the female will have two pupils in each eye. One can be describe as a normal pupil, only smaller for it is the size of a normal pupil when it is constricted. When this pupil itself is constricted it is almost non-existing, and it is the size of a normal pupil when it dilates. The second pupil has the same diameter of a normal eye when it is dilated. However, this pupil is not a filled in, instead it is hollowed out into a thin outline of a circle that constricts and dilates like a normal pupil does. It is because of these two unique pupils that the user is not only able to see normally, but also able to see other people's chakra as thought it was an aura around them. Throughout the first years of life, the user learns how to control the amount of chakra they can persevere by using their own chakra to constrict, or dilate the second pupil in order to see either a thin transparent layer of chakra, or an estimation of their chakra potential. Over time, the female can later use her eyes to depict the elemental nature and strength of their opponent’s chakra, giving them the advantage when it comes to sizing up their opponent. At the beginning of each topic, the user automatically loses 5 action points and each time she uses her chakra to change her pupils, she subtracts and additional 5 points. Rank Required: Genin – Physical Trait |
This is the only distinguishing trait to show that someone is truly a member of the Shang Clan, and a trait very few women are born with. For other members without the rare Kekkai Genkai, you would not be able to tell the difference between them and other villagers. The only way you can distinguish them is by the clan crest some where on their clothing. Most of the clan members work either in the green houses, medical facilities, and temples.
ABILITIES:
Kekkai Genkai |
Technique Type: Kekkai Genkai Technique Rank: E-Rank Technique Action Cost: 5 actions Technique Effect: Aside from being born with unique eyes, the female born with the KG of the Shang family, also acquires a unique chakra. For the woman is not born with a specific elemental attribute to her chakra, instead she is just born with pure chakra. However, this chakra is not as useless as it sounds. Instead it allows the user to 'mimic' to the elemental attributes of an opposing opponent through the technique know to the blood line as Divine Feathers. Utilizing the elemental abilities that were said to have been gifted to the Shang clan by the Snake Goddess, Nu Wa,the females who have the Kekkai Genkai can adaptively use other elemental jutsus. However, the Shang family does not have the ability to manifest their own chakra into the elemental nature that is needed to use jutsus, nor do they posses the unique ability to absorb another's chakra. So, another method of gaining the different chakra elements was created using their own chakra. They do this by charging a feather made of their pure chakra with the elemental chakra being used against them, so that they may seal it away for their own use later. Some what mimicking, the legend of Nu Wa's elemental stones, that she charged with the elemental attributes. To use this technique the user must wait for their opponent to use a jutsu towards them. Once the jutsu is activated the user must put themselves in front of the jutsu and outstretch both arms with the tips of their index fingers and thumbs meet in order to make a triangle as they begin to focus their own chakra into both palms of their hand, rotating in opposite directions. Once the jutsu comes in contact with the user's chakra the jutsu becomes separated by physical elemental attributes, and the elemental chakra. This causes two things to happen (1) the physical portion of the jutsu is thrown off to another direction while the chakra is collected by the user's chakra and (2) charges the pure chakra taking the form of a bird like feather, that will begin to orbiting around her once it is made until she seals it into one of her clear quartz mala prayer beads that are around her neck. Pros: (1)Can be used as a shield. (2)Once the woman has enough elemental feathers charged in her inventory, she may later release the feathers required to perform a jutsu of that element. Cons: (1)The user can not move while she is performing this technique, leaving herself open to attack. (2)This technique can not absorb any chakra nature that is affiliated with any other Clan's blood line, or the chakra natures of Jinchurikis. Accessibility: Genin - Only can use this technique once times during battle Chuunin - Only can use this technique twice times during battle Jounin - Only can use this technique three times during battle If technique is used against a technique one rank higher than the users current Rank, the use of the ability costs double. If the techniques is used against a technique any higher, it will only act as a temporary shield that will only lessen the severity of the damage done to her. Rank Required: Genin |
Basic Techniques |
Technique Name: [熱水器] Geyser Technique Type: Ninjutsu Technique Rank: D-Rank Technique Action Cost: 10 actions Technique Effect: As the name suggests, this technique allows the user with water chakra to create a geyser from water, or in Daiyu's case, her chakra feathers. The strength, size, and how long the geyser lasts depends on the amount of chakra put into the attack. However, in the case of Daiyu, this technique is not limited to water but any elemental chakra she has sealed away. For depending on which ever type of feather she releases chakra from determines wither her attack will be column of flames, mud, a lighting strike, a gust of wind, or a geyser. Feathers Required: Two Rank Required: Genin |
Technique Name: [元素武器] Elemental Weapons Technique Type: Ninjutsu Technique Rank: D-Rank Technique Action Cost: 10 actions Technique Effect: Calling upon a chakra feather, Daiyu can either infuse her chakra into a weapon, or create an elemental weapon depending on the type she uses. Fire and water are formed into a four foot snake whip, while earth becomes a 5 foot staff. Wind and Lighting on the other hand can be infused into a weapon such as a sword, kunai, or senbon needles and are less unexpected. Wind simply increases the length of the blade while by a few inches, and the lighting chakra simply adds a shock to each hit the users opponents take. Feathers Required: One Rank Required: Genin |
Technique Name: [清除] Purge Technique Type: Ninjutsu - Medical Technique Rank: C-Rank Technique Action Cost: 20 actions Technique Effect: During a point in a shinobi's life, there is at least one instance where they come in contact with some sort of poison, wither if it is in their blood or lungs. This technique allows the user to extract the poison from one's system, if they act quickly enough. For this technique the user must have a direct opening to the infected area, so this sometimes requires the user to make a deep incision on the skin. This allows the user to channel their chakra through their patient's body allowing the chakra to purge the body of the toxins. The procedure's length depends on how much poison the patient was subjected to and how much experience the user has. For, it is a delicate procedure and the user can not loose their concentration or it would effect the patient. Once the toxin is extracted, the user uses their chakra to dispose of it by compressing it with energy. Rank Required: Chunnin |

This technique could also be used to block small weapons ,such as senbon and kunai, and allow her to slip the grip of her opponent. But, even though this technique is mostly defensive, if can some what be used as offensive when the user releases the chakra surrounding her body. For when the user does that it causes a pulse of energy, causing anyone within a 3 food radius of the user to be pushed back slightly. Rank Required: Genin |
